The Position of the Previous HitGhostNext Hit River Formation in Relation to the Sub-Devonian Unconformity

Rein deWit

ABSTRACT

Several opinions regarding the age of the Previous HitGhostNext Hit River formation can be found in the literature. The formation has been called Cambrian, Ordovician, Middle Devonian, and Late Devonian in age. Some correlations are based on a comparison of the Previous HitGhostNext Hit River with rock units of the Plains; others are the results of local observations. In this paper an attempt is made to arrive at the age of the Previous HitGhostNext Hit River by a regional study of the sub-Devonian unconformity in the eastern mountain ranges in and near Banff and Jasper National Parks. It is concluded that the Previous HitGhostTop River formation is most probably the same as the Cambrian Arctomys formation of the Main Ranges of the Rocky Mountains.
