Bahamites and Their Significance in Oil Exploration

F. W. Beales

ABSTRACT

Ancient limestones of Bahaman type are much more common than reference to them in the literature would suggest. They accumulated under rather specialized conditions that have in places been shown to involve the development of a distinct marginal belt of porous limestones of regional dimensions. The limestones themselves are readily recognizable, and the possibilities of finding oil in them are sufficiently interesting to warrant the close attention of exploration departments.
