History and Development of The Sunder, Westward Ho And Harmattan Oil Fields

ABSTRACT
Drilling leading to the discovery of the Sundre, Harmattan-Elkton and Westward Ho fields is reviewed. Since the first oil discovery, drilled in late 1954, 127 oil wells have been completed. Hydrocarbon accumulation in the area is controlled chiefly by up-dip truncation of the Elkton member of the Rundle group, but is locally influenced by minor structure and porosity pinchout caused by facies change.
