Analytical Theory of Slope Development by Undercutting

ABSTRACT
A mathematical theory of the geomorphological development of mountain sides proposed in a previous paper by the writer is extended to the case where there is a river cutting away at the bottom of a slope. It is shown that the slope becomes steeper as time goes on so as to reach an asymptotic configuration. Further development occurs by more or less parallel slope recession.
