Abstract
Organic Remains in Meteorites--A Review of the Problem
ABSTRACT
Claus and Nagy, Papp, Ross, Staplin, Timofeev and others have reported possible microfossils from several carbonaceous meteorites. Meinschein et al, have found straight-chain hydrocarbons and other organic substances that at present are known to form only through biogenic agencies. In the light of current theories of meteorite formation, it is difficult to see how or when there hydrocarbons and possible fossils could have developed. The problem is reviewed and the plea by H. C. Urey for further serious study is echoed.
