Correlations Within The Mississippian of The Front Ranges of The Rocky Mountains

D. H. Oswald

ABSTRACT

Detailed stratigraphic work in the Front Ranges indicates that the basin of deposition during Mississippian time paralleled the present structural strike of the Front Range between the Previous HitGhostTop River and the Highwood River. Formational thicknesses and lithologies exhibit a considerable degree of uniformity throughout this area. Thickening of formations and changes in facies are observed when an attempt is made to correlate in an east-west direction.
