Abstract
The Upper Detachment in Concentric Folding
ABSTRACT
During concentric folding the deformed rocks are divided into two or more discrete structural units. In the Fernie Basin area the internal structure and both boundaries of one concentrically folded panel can be studied. This structurallithic unit is separated from the overlying rocks by a decollement and from the underlying rocks by a major thrust which probably was a decollement during folding. Recognizing these relationships requires the application of the principle of down-plunge projection.
