Megaspores, Imperial Formation (Upper Devonian), Mountain River, District of Mackenzie: GEOLOGICAL NOTE

L. V. Hills, K.Hyslop, D.R. Braman

ABSTRACT

The Devonica and Magnifica megaspore zones (Frasnian-Famennian) are identified in the Imperial Formation at Mountain River. Palynological and lithologic evidence indicates that there is at least 118 m of sediment missing between the Ramparts Formation and the Imperial Formation at Mountain River, as compared with Imperial River and Powell Creek. Erosion at the sub-Cretaceous unconformity removed between 120 and 180 m more sediment at Mountain River than at Imperial River.
