Abstract
Alberta Research has, almost from its inception, had a strong interest in the oil sands of Alberta. When Syncrude Canada Ltd. began, for its own use, an exhaustive search for all published oil sands literature Alberta Research arranged to take over and continue this ongoing bibliography as part of government involvement in oil sands development and its benefit to the community at large.
The type and scope of the literature decided upon, such as patents, government publications, and conference proceedings, are discussed as well as some recent improvements in the existing index.
