Some Bearpaw Zones in Southwestern Saskatchewan and Southern Alberta
Abstract
This paper describes and illustrates graphically six zones which were established from core holes drilled into the Bearpaw formation in southwestern Saskatchewan and in the Dunmore area near Medicine Hat, Alberta. Correlations are made on tentative basis with similar zones in the Bearpaw which exist on the opposite side of the Sweetgrass Arch in southern Alberta, both in plains and foothills areas. A vertical distribution chart of the most common and diagnostic forms is provided and three plates of photographs illustrate the more useful species.
