Abstract
The division of the Alberta Group into the Wapiabi, Cardium and Blackstone formations and the subdivision of the Wapiabi and Blackstone is presented. The correlation and thickness of the units of the Blackstone and Wapiabi is shown from the foothills outcrop sections to the Phillips Ancona well. The Cardium sands are correlated from the foothills into the plains.
The onlap of the Joli Fou sea to the west is indicated. This shows a progressively greater hiatus to the west between the Alberta group and the Blairmore. In the inner foothills the Viking is represented by the unconformity.
