ABSTRACT

Movement of Louann salt controlled the distribution of sediments and formation thicknesses during deposition of Smackover, Buckner, and Gilmer (Upper Jurassic) facies. Two trends of salt anticlines through Rains and Van Zandt Counties began to develop in late Smackover time; greatest movement was during development of the Buckner; movement slowed and ended with Gilmer sedimentation.
