  1. INTRODUCTION / OVERVIEW
A discussion on the reflection seismic method including relating subsurface geology to seismic data. Explanation and examples of two-dimensional (2D) versus three-dimensional (3D) data sets.
  1. EXAMPLE (General)
A general case history utilizing 3D data.
  1. 3D WORKSTATION INTERPRETATION TECHNIQUES
A discussion on the types of displays available using 3D data volumes with examples of horizon and fault interpretation. Various methods related to mapping will be shown, amplitude extraction and analysis, as well as tools for fault/anomaly detection (dip, azimuth, difference and edge detection). 3D visualization will be presented.
  1. DATA ACQUISITION
The design of 3D surveys will be reviewed with an example of a typical survey. Methods of cost reduction are discussed, both acceptable and unacceptable methods.
  1. DATA PROCESSING
The basic data processing steps for a 3D project are shown.
  1. DATA INTERPRETATION
With the previous five sections having provided a background, case histories using 3D data volumes are presented. Examples range from mainly structural targets, such as faulted anticlines, to stratigraphic targets requiring detailed interpretation methods.
  1. ADVANCED METHODS (3-C)
Case histories showing the extended capabilities of imaging using 3D data.
  1. CONCLUSION
