Swan Lake Field, Jackson County, Texas

Emil F. Bowers (1)

ABSTRACT

The Swan Lake Field near Port Lavaca, Texas, is one of many fields along the Coastal trend. Production is from sands of Frio age. Shape of the structure and steep dips, particularly on the deeper beds, suggest the possibility of a deep-seated plug.

The numerous producing sands are characteristic of many Southwest Texas fields. The field is interesting because of the fact that it was discovered on acreage which was outlined by dry holes. Its limited extent may be suggestive of the size of fields yet to be discovered in the area. Multisand fields, limited in size, such as Swan Lake, may be highly profitable.
