Variations in Porosity and Permeability in the Wilcox Group of the Texas Upper Gulf Coast

E. L. Grubbs (1)

ABSTRACT

An areal study of variations in the porosity and permeability of both the Upper and Lower Wilcox of the Texas Upper Gulf Coast is presented. The variations are shown to be uniform and somewhat similar for both porosity and permeability. Values of the more rapidly deposited regressive section of the Lower Wilcox are lower than those of the transgressive Upper Wilcox. In general, deltaic and inter-deltaic areas may be distinguished and it is concluded that the environment of deposition is of major importance in causing variations of porosity and permeability.
