Abstract
ABSTRACT: East Haynesville Field, Claiborne Parish, Louisiana
John T. Palmer (1)
ABSTRACT
The East Haynesville Field, located in 23N-6, 7W, Claiborne Parish, North Louisiana, was discovered by Hunt Oil Company in 1945. Since then, extensive drilling has resulted in seven separate pay zones ranging from the Lower Cretaceous (Rodessa) 4100 to the Upper Jurassic (Smackover Limestone) - 10,500.
End_Page 146------------------------
Accumulation is controlled by structure and lenticular sand conditions in the Lower Cretaceous zones. However, both structure and reef-like deposition control accumulation in the Upper Jurassic - Haynesville and Smackover pay zones. No faulting is found in the Lower Cretaceous or in the Cotton Valley Group of the Upper Jurassic. But below the Haynesville - Cotton Valley unconformity, graben type faulting is found with faults ranging in magnitude up to 1000 of throw.
