Regional Study of Portions of Jefferson, Plaquemines and St. Charles Parishes, Louisiana

Louis O. Vidrine (2)

ABSTRACT

Regional structural study of an area of approximately 200 square miles in Jefferson, Plaquemines and St. Charles Parishes, Louisiana, reveals the presence of deep-seated and piercement-type salt domes, a structural nose, and numerous regional faults. Stratigraphic studies reveal a marked facies change in the Cristellaria I zone. Some of the domes in the area are complexly faulted and others exhibit erratic sand developments. Sediments in the area range in age from recent to middle Miocene.
