A Method of Rapidly Converting Measured Depths in Directionally Drilled Wells to their Subsea Equivalents

B. E. Van Arsdale, Jr. (1)

ABSTRACT

Unlike other exploration areas, many of the wells being drilled in the offshore area are directional. These deviated holes place a burden on the well-site geologist by causing him to spend considerable time in converting measured depths to their subsea equivalents before he can properly evaluate a well. A film overlay method of conversion is suggested that is simple, rapid and accurate.
