Small Eocene Wilcox Foraminifera from the Subsurface Texas Gulf Coast, Houston, Texas

F. Marion Setzer (1)

ABSTRACT

The site of deposition of the sediments is discussed. The drilling difficulties inherent in long sections of light density, and under compacted shales, interbedded with very fine resistant sandstones of varying degrees of cementation in the section is highlighted. The normal natural difficulties in correlations with dwarf faunas is here mentioned as a major concern, and the primary purpose of the paper.

This article introduces four new species of foraminifera which broadens the correlation base of our science. The systematics also introduce two new varietal species of no known established stratigraphic significance. Charts in the form of well records, posting the new species in relation to published foraminifera, demonstrate the usefulness and stratigraphic position of the new species. The selected reference list, as qualified, affords a working peripheral view of some usually available literature which applies.
