Thickness Variation of the Eagle Ford and Adjacent Strata in Burleson, Lee, and Washington Counties, Texas

Kaytan Kelkar

Abstract

The Eagle Ford Group is an important source rock and unconventional reservoir in the East Texas Basin. To understand better the distribution and thickness variations of the Eagle Ford Group in Burleson, Lee, and Washington counties a sequence stratigraphic study of the Eagle Ford, as well as the underlying (Woodbine, Buda, and Del Rio) and overlying (Austin) strata was conducted. Within the study area, a well log grid was prepared with four north-south transects and two east-west transects. In addition, isopach maps for each stratigraphic unit were made to help determine the thickness trends for each.
