Abstract
The Dinosaur Department Store
Abstract
The University of Utah Cooperative Dinosaur Project was enough of a media attraction to receive its own special name, the Dinosaur Department Store. Ironically, the latter name, a popular news draw by itself, served to focus media attention on the allocation of fossils from the University of Utah-sponsored dinosaur quarrying activities, rather than scientific results of their study. The name, however, seems to have been detrimental to our solicitations for research funding over the life span of the Project by its inference of commercial activity. Even so, the Cooperative Dinosaur Dig, another popular name, in time may prove to be among the most scientifically productive endeavors of record in Utah vertebrate paleontology.
