Work Study Application for Management Information on Wax Plant Operation for the Possibility of Increasing the Ready-Wax Production

Iliansjah Ideham

Abstract

The main objective of this study was made to give the necessary informations to management, regarding the possibility to increase Balikpapan wax production from 110 mton/day to 140 mton/day, applying all the existing processing equipments and wolk program.

About mid 1971, a work study or work measurement was carried out, at Balikpapan Waxplant, to observe to what extend the ideal maximum capacity can be reached of the following various sections:

- Dewaxing section

- Sweating section

- Treating section

- Moulding and Packaging section.

Those various sections are interdependent to each other, and separate batch wise operations are incured to each section where the endurence of processing period plays an important role.

Although individual section design capacity is known, the sections capacity summing cannot be applied. However, to obtain the overall feasible and operatable maximum capacity of Balikpapan Waxplant, with the existing processing equipments, and to know the available spare wax production capacity, a general work study and work measurement to the equipment operation was applied.
