Abstract
Current Production Logging
Abstract
Production logging – the art of making measurements in completed wells to define the quality or condition of the completion and the source type, rate, and direction of movement of fluids in the wellbore – is a generally under-utilized technology. The engineer who has only information on fluids passing into or from the wellhead has no real idea of how efficient – or inefficient – is his well. Production logs currently available to alert production engineers are based on temperature, flow, tracer, sonic (noise and cement bond), and nuclear techniques. Application of individual and combination logs to identify well conditions will vary with the well, the completion, and the test objective. Currently available production logging techniques and how to apply them to some typical well problems are described in this presentation,
