Petroleum Engineers Supply and Demand in Indonesia

Chris Soemarso

Abstract

Demand and supply of Petroleum Engineers in Indonesia are discussed in this paper. In general the petroleum industry requires experienced engineers, bemuse training takes time and is expensive. Estimates indicate that some 100 Petroleum Engineers will be required by the petroleum industry annually through the year 1991. Data from the Petroleum Engineering Schools in Indonesia indicates that less than half of the number can be supplied. What can be done about this shortage of supply? Some suggestions and recommendations are given to the industry to solve this problem. This topic should be considered by the authorities as one of the national problems.
