Infill Drilling and Sound Operational Practices Maintain Production in the Bima Field, Offshore N.W. Java

Juan C. Troncoso, Harnusa Sakirman

Abstract

The Bima Field has been on production for over two years from the Batu Raja limestonezone. The initial steep decline observed in field production during the first year has been arrested as a consequence of infill development horizontal drilling and good operational practices.

A quick overview of the initial assumptions used to justify the Bima Field Development is followed by an analysis employed to produce a very successful infill drilling program. This infill drilling program in combination with production practices which include effective reservoir management and operational practices such as wireline, snubbing, and coiled tubing work have finally stabilized production from this very complex Batu Raja zone in the Bima Field.
