Abstract
Perforation Washing: A Successful Technique for Treating Formation Damage in Sangatta Oil Field, Kalimantan
Abstract
A concise evaluation of production and reservoir data will lead to the possible causes of flow resistriction from the reservoir to the wellbore. The change in oil and gas saturation values around the wellbore will, at a certain point reach the critical gas saturation. The moving downward of the critical gas saturation area will reduce the oil flow and at a certain point the flow will totally cease. This phenomenon is classified as gas blocking formation damage, and often occurs in light hydrocarbon systems in the Sangatta oil field.
For reservoirs producing paraffinic crude oil, the problems are due to increasing oil viscosity and paraffin precipitation, which restrict the oil flow to the well bore. This phenomenon is classified as particle plugging formation damage, and mostly occurs in high pour point crude oil. Treatment of formation damage in the Sangatta oil field is handle by taking into account the possible causes of the formation damage.
This paper will introduce a successful technique of combating formation damage in the Sangatta oil field using a perforation washing tool.
