Hydrocyclones: A Solution to Produced Water Treatment for Offshore Development: Abstract

Bayu Satiyawira1

Abstract

In light of the progression into deeper water and more hostile environments in the search for new oil and gas reserves, an increased demand is placed upon the oil industry to develop lighter, more compact, and more efficient process equipment to replace their traditional counterparts.

The large space and weight requirements for conventional Produce Water Treatment (PWT) systems (Skim Tanks, CPI'S and floating cells) could have a large negative impact on the overall economics of deep water development.

Recent advances in static hydrocyclone technology for PWT has added an attractive alternative to the conventional systems.
