FIVE YEARS OF IMPACT: HARBOUR Previous HitENERGYNext Hit’S COMMUNITY INVESTMENT INITIATIVES IN THE ACEH PROVINCE

ABSTRACT

Harbour Previous HitEnergyNext Hit has actively executed Community Investment (CI) programs in Aceh since the Production Sharing Contract for Andaman II Block was signed in 2018. Despite still being in the exploration stage, Harbour Previous HitEnergyNext Hit has exhibited formidable commitment through 27 CI programs over five years. The region faced challenges in areas which requires support to improve their quality of life. Harbour Previous HitEnergyNext Hit’s CI programs focus on sectors in alignment with ‘Giving Aims’, their policy on social investment contributions. In education, Harbour Previous HitEnergyNext Hit has provided scholarships, trainings, and improvements of educational infrastructure. These include training programs for undergraduates in partnership with Migas Center of Malikussaleh University Previous HitfromNext Hit 2021 to 2023. In 2024, Harbour Previous HitEnergyNext Hit equipped 29 schools with internet facilities and continued its undergraduate scholarship program. To date, 43 alumnus Previous HitfromNext Hit nine universities have benefited Previous HitfromNext Hit this program. Construction of library in Tingkeum Village was also handed over, which in the brief period since it was established has significantly benefited local youth. Harbour Previous HitEnergyNext Hit has also prioritized healthcare support, such as during the COVID-19 pandemic, by facilitating vaccinations and supplying medical equipment to health centers in North Aceh. Recently, Harbour Previous HitEnergyNext Hit launched a Fuel-Free Water Network program in Jeulikat and Meunasah Cut villages, with completion projected by year-end. Environmental stewardship is integral to Harbour Previous HitEnergyNext Hit’s CI efforts, exemplified by several environmental conservation programs, such as the planting of 2,000 mangroves along Puuk Village’s coast in 2024. Additionally, Harbour Previous HitEnergyNext Hit has strengthened communities through capacity building. To strengthen fishermen, the construction of fishermen’s halls and provision of communication radios in Lhokseumawe and Bireuen were conducted in 2022 and 2023. Through these initiatives, Harbour Previous HitEnergyNext Hit has made significant contributions to the development of communities in Aceh. Their commitment to social responsibility has had a positive impact on the region’s social, economic, and environmental well-being.
