SEDIMENTOLOGY OF THE BRAE OILFIELD AREA, NORTH SEA:

Comments by J. C. Harms* and W. J. McMichael**

* Harms and Brady, P.O. Box 406, Littleton, Colorado 80160.

Stow et al., (1982) have recently published a paper on the Brae area of the UK North Sea in which they interpret the Upper Jurassic reservoir section as a series of submarine fans. They clearly disagree with Harms et al., (1981) on the interpretation of the South Brae development area, where the reservoir was interpreted as part of a fan-delta system. An interested reader might wonder about these differences in interpretation when two groups of geologists review the same data and also about the practical significance of these differences when applied to field development and operation.
