IN-SITU FORMATION OF PETROLEUM IN OOLITES-- II: A CASE STUDY OF THE ARAB FORMATION OOLITE RESERVOIRS: DISCUSSION

Augustus O. Wilson*

* Consulting Geologist, Saker Geological Services, Houston, Texas, USA.

Ibe (1985) chose the Arab Formation of Saudi Arabia as a case study for his hypothesis (Ibe, 1984) that oolites can be a source for oil. His reason for choosing the Arab reservoirs is that he considers them to be closed systems encased by Previous HitanhydriteTop and tight limestones with no access to any potential source except the "oolitic" Arab reservoirs.
