Southwest Sumatra Field: Exploration History and Observations
ABSTRACT
Southwest Sumatra Field is typical of Central Montana Tyler Formation (Pennsylvanian) oil fields that produce from stratigraphic traps in fluvial sandstones. The major portion of the field was discovered by conventional subsurface techniques. The lowest of the three members of the Tyler Formation consists of fluvial valley-fill deposits which include the reservoir sandstones. Two parallel, narrow reservoirs are separate and have sub-normal pressures.
