Abstract
Lithofacies and Depositional Environments of the Lower Woodbine Formation
Abstract
The Woodbine Formation is a prolific oil producer in the East Texas Field and elsewhere. Knowledge of its stratigraphy and sedimentology is an essential facet in exploration in this unit. Analyses of the lower Woodbine (Rush Creek Member) suggest its formation as a complex of shoreface, coastal bar, and channel-mouth bar deposits formed during the basal Upper Cretaceous marine transgression in Texas.
