Abstract
Gravity Versus Centrifuge Separation of Heavy Minerals from Sand
Gordon Rittenhouse, W. E. Bertholf, Jr.
ABSTRACT
The relative efficiency of gravity and centrifuge separation of heavy minerals in sand was tested. The percentages of heavies by weight differ significantly; the number frequencies do not. Gravity separation tends to effect a cleaner separation of high than of low specific gravity minerals. Centrifuge separation is equally effective for all minerals.
