Deep Ripple Marks in the Sea

Henry W. Menard

ABSTRACT

Submarine photography reveals that ripple marks are common in deep water in the sea. Current ripple marks have been found at a depth of 792 feet, and ripple marks which appear to be due to oscillation have been found at 4,500 feet. Water movement competent to move sediment must extend to these depths.
