Abstract
Petrology of the Whita Sandstone, Southern Scotland
A. E. M. Nairn
ABSTRACT
The Whita Sandstone at the base of the Carboniferous of Eastern Dumfriesshire and Western Roxburghshire of Southern Scotland is a homogeneous sandstone with respect to composition, shape, and size. Orientation, shape, and heavy mineral studies suggest a northerly source of material front the Southern Upland massif.
