Abstract
Petrography and Origin of Peguan Sandstones Exposed at Chauk, Burma
Dev D. Sarin
ABSTRACT
The petrography of sandstones of the Pegu System (Upper Oligocene to Middle Miocene) exposed at Chauk, Burma, is described. These arkosic sandstones are considered to have been derived from a belt of granites exposed along the western margin of the Shan Plateau. Variations in the size of the clastics deposited are attributed to earth movements within the basin.
