Abstract
The Universal Stage In Studies Of Diagenetic Textures
J. E. Glover
ABSTRACT
In petrological studies of sandstones, close inspection of the interface between grains and cement, or grains and matrix, should show whether the grains have remained intact since deposition, or whether they have been enlarged or corroded. Examination with the universal stage clarifies the interface relationships, and commonly reveals features not evident from two-dimensional examination with the microscope. The universal stage is also useful in determining other textural features which assist in establishing the diagenetic history of rocks.
