Abstract
Quiet Water Oolites from the Ordovician of Minnesota: NOTES
Richard A. Davis, Jr.
ABSTRACT
Quiet water oolites, hitherto unreported from the geologic record, are present at three exposures of the Shakopee Formation (Lower Ordovician) in southeastern Minnesota. These unusual oolites are analogous to modern forms being generated in Laguna Madre, Texas.
Protruding nuclei, ooolitic rings which abut against nuclei, and generally poor sorting suggest that these oolites were formed under low energy conditions.
