ABSTRACT
A multipurpose sampler has been developed for use in soft, cohesive sediments. It can be operated by one man and can recover cores to depths of 15 feet, depending on the consistency of the material and the available manpower. Additional unique features include: transparent removable plastic core barrels for easy viewing and transport of the core and an attachment enabling the recovery of a 1/2-inch thick rectangular slice, completely wrapped in plastic film, ready for photographic or X-ray radiographic analysis.
