Abstract
Amino Acid Levels in the Argentine Basin Sediments: Correlation with Quaternary Climatic Changes: NOTES
F. J. Stevenson, C-N. Cheng
ABSTRACT
Variations in the depth distribution of total amino acids in the Argentine Basin sediments were found to be related to climatic fluctuations caused by Pleistocene glaciation. Zones of highest amino acid accumulations coincided with sedimentary material deposited during glacial periods. Valuable information regarding the stratigraphic history of deep-sea sediments can be obtained by application of organic geochemical methods.
