ABSTRACT
Direct measurements of changes in bottom elevation caused by a colony of tube-building amphipods, Ampelisca abdita Mills, were made over the period 14 November 1965 to 5 March 1966 in the York River, Virginia. Total increase in bottom elevation amounted to 108 mm. The maximum rate of increase was 39.0 mm/week.
