ABSTRACT
Details of the construction of a perspex grain-size comparator are given. Although the idea of a comparator is not new, file durability and transparency of this one provide many advantages over others we have seen. It has proven very popular amongst officers of the New Zealand Geological Survey, and is a very useful teaching aid for students.
