Abstract
Relationships Among Insoluble Residue, Dolostone and Limestone Facies
David N. Lumsden
ABSTRACT
The carbonate rock sequences comprising the lower and upper members of the Callville Formation (Pennsylvanian) and the Pakoon Formation (Lower Permian) in southern Nevada were sampled and subdivided into four limestone facies (micrite, sparse micrite, packed micrite and packed sparite), two dolostone facies (finely crystalline and coarsely crystalline) and carbonate cemented sandstone. No significant relationship was found between insoluble residue and limestone or dolostone facies nor was there any relationship between the dolomite content of mixed calcite-dolomite mineralogy samples and insoluble residue.
