Abstract
An Unusual Inclusion in Beachrock
William H. Easton
ABSTRACT
An essentially unaltered coconut husk in beachrock near Papeete, Tahiti offers an example of the inclusion of transported organic material in sediments The inclusion demonstrates that the beach rock formed rapidly, little or no replacement of the organic matter has occurred and since such materials usually float to the high tide line on a beach, the zone of formation could range into the high tide area or the material may have been trapped below the usual debris line position.
