Abstract
Origin of Fibrous Calcite Cements that Apparently Replace Foraminiferal Tests
A. C. Kendall
ABSTRACT
Fibrous to bladed calcite, composed of crystals that exhibit evidence of lattice curvature, apparently replace foraminiferal tests and extend into adjacent former pore-space. It forms by syntaxial overgrowth upon original crystals of the test which displayed progressive and systematic changes in lattice orientation. Adjacent crystals in the test possessed near-identical lattice orientations such that these crystals together with their overgrowths behave as larger crystalline units.
