A Lightweight Sediment Sampler for Remote Field Use: METHOD PAPER

Mike J. Pearson

ABSTRACT

A sediment coring device is described which can be weighted with stones at the sampling site and is thus light and easy to transport yet efficient in operation. It is operated from an inflatable plastic dinghy by a hand-hauled line and has proved effective in melt water lakes at depths up to 90 m. It is particularly suited to glacial sediment reconnaissance in remote areas.
