ABSTRACT
A sample of the Purington Shale, one of many Pennsylvanian shales whose stratigraphy and environment of deposition have been described, is suggested as a geochemical standard. Analytical data for splits of this sample from ten cooperating laboratories allow comparison for interlaboratory precision with previously established rock standards.
