Concretions in Glacial Sediments at Seglvatnet, Norway

Wilfred H. Theakstone

ABSTRACT

Concretions in Pleistocene glacial sediments at Seglvatnet, Norway, include a wide variety of forms, the simplest of which apparently reflects relatively uniform growth rates in different directions; the preferred orientation of others may be associated with water movement through the sediments. Concretion shape generally is influenced by the grain size and bedding of the enveloping sediments. Some concretions may have formed during, or soon after, deposition of the sediments; others are forming at present.
