Abstract
Long-Term Phosphorus Flux to Deep-Sea Sediments
Judith B. Moody (2), Thomas R. Worsley, Peter R. Manoogian (3)
ABSTRACT
Phosphorus and carbonate-free accumulation correlate in three equatorial Pacific cores for the past 10 my. P-accumulation exhibits a secular decrease through time with strong superimposed oscillations. Conservative extrapolation suggests that deep-sea sediments compete with shelf phosphorite formation for phosphorus, consuming at least half of dissolved riverine input.
