Mineralogical Analysis of Suspended Cohesive Sediment Using an Analytical Electron Microscope

ABSTRACT
Transmission electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive analysis of X-rays facilitates determination of chemical composition of both bulk sample and individual mineral components in fine sediment. The information is used to estimate mineralogical composition of the sediment independently of mineralogical analysis by powder X-ray diffractometry.
